Entering Functions in Excel 2007

by Scott Coley on April 26th, 2010

This is for the Excel 2007 Newbies! Us old users have discovered this litte trick ages ago.

There are three ways to enter functions in Excel 2007:

1. Type them into the cell or the formular bar

2. Use the Insert Function Wizard

3. Use the new method in Excel 2007 by typing the equal sign, the first few characters of the function name    and follow the syntax.

There is a fourth method, a combination of two and three above.

Type the equal sign and the first few charaters of the function name, the on the Formular Tab click the Insert Function

Icon to bring up the Insert Function dialogue box and enter the needed information in the appropriate rectangle. This method is great for eliminating errors, assuring the correct  punctuation and proper syntax.  One also gets assistance in what to put in each rectangle.

Try this, I think you will like it.  I use it ofter and find it to be speedier and reduces errors.
