It’s Time to PUSH

Take a deep breath, roll up your sleeves, dig in your heels and get ready!  It’s Time to PUSH!!

February has come to a swift end, and there are two months down and 10 more to go!  So where are you in your job search?  Have you made the type of progress you had planned or do you feel like you’re spinning your wheels?  Have you made some great networking connections or have you put that on the back burner?

Well, the PUSH may be a key factor in keeping your job search moving in the right direction!


Prioritize

Determine what’s important, what really matters.  Reevaluate your goals by asking yourself these 5 questions:

  • Are there jobs available that fit my career goal(s)?
  • Do I need to revise my target companies list (i.e., company stability, job openings, etc.)?
  • Are my salary expectations realistic for today’s market?
  • Should I consider relocation?
  • Are my skills, experience, training/education/certifications, etc. sufficient for my career goals?


Utilize

Use what’s working.  Identify what aspects of your job search is getting you results!  If it’s not working, why not?  Don’t continue to waste time on what’s not giving you a ROI.  Your time is a valuable commodity, spend it wisely. 


Stimulate

Let’s get motivated! I know a job search may become tedious or even a bit discouraging but DON’T GIVE UP!  Sometimes it’s about taking a break but not surrendering.  Like a job, vacations are allowed but long sabbaticals may get you off focus and out of your job search routine.  Maintain a positive attitude by continuing to focus on your positive attributes and what you bring to the table.   


Handle

Reorganize and manage your job search activities.  With tools like the Job Planner found in the MicroTrain iPortal, you can easily handle and direct your job search plan.  Keeping your activities organized is a key way to ensure your search strategies are focused and effective. 


So, take a deep breath, roll up your sleeves, dig in your heels and get ready!  It’s Time to PUSH!!
