Mission Certification: Do Certifications Lead to Employment and Higher Incomes?

The fact of the matter is this: A certification can differentiate your resume from others in the hiring process. Not only does it validate your specialized training and skills, it helps the Hiring Manager be confident in their decision because the certification proves your knowledge. 


A new survey about the impact a certification had on getting a new job and earning higher income was published recently (Network World) based on input from hundreds of IT Professionals.

Some excellent highlights [1] include:

  • 60% said a certification led to a new job
  • 29% said a certification led to a promotion
  • 50% said a certification earned them more pay
  • 40% said their pay increased by more than 10% directly because of certification
