Turn off the computer or leave it on that is the question?

When my customers ask this question, they’re generally looking at the pros and cons of saving money on electricity or the general wear and tear of a pc throughout its lifetime.

My general preference is to leave it on; modern computers today do not consume as much power as they once did.  Unless you are not going to use your computer for a long period of time or going on vacation my answer is to leave it on. Some of the reasons is come PC parts expand when they start to feel warm and then contract as they begin to cool.  This could cause some wear and tear on some of your components.

Now if you are working for some giant corporation turning it off is more the priority for saving money.

If you’re not sure which path to take to PC power enlightenment, you might want to strike a balance between shutting down every time you are not going to use your computer for a long time and leaving your machine running at all times when you are a power user like myself.

Another thing I have Anti Spyware and Anti Virus programs that run on early and late period of the days so I have no choice but to keep my machine on also I have my Internet connection at all times the process of rebooting my machine every time I want to go surf the Internet is something that I also have to reconsider.  Another advice I would give is if you are going to leave your machine at all times it would be wise to invest some money on a UPS or battery backup in case of an emergency.
